Fall Performance Info

Fall Performance Info

Dear Gustafson Dance families,

It is already the 3rd week of our Fall Program and we hope the students are enjoying classes! It has been wonderful to have the studio full of dancing feet this fall!

Our fall performances will be upon us before we know it! Your confirmation email (sent upon registration) should have listed the name of the performance(s) that your dancer will be in: Rudolph on December 5th and/or Nutcracker on Dec. 19th and 20th. Charts with Class Parts are posted in the studio and will be on our website next week.

COSTUMES: It is important to continue to get the dancers to class each week. Costume fittings will take place in classes the next two weeks, and we will begin teaching dances for Rudolph and Nutcracker too. For our fall shows, we provide the costumes, but dancers need to provide tights/leggings, shoes, and any under costume garments that are needed.

RUDOLPH is a delightful children’s ballet adapted from the story of by Robert L. May and performed by our Creative Dance, Pre-Ballet, Combo Classes, Jazz Classes and features the State Street Ballet Young Dancers (our student apprentice company to State Street Ballet). This will be Gustafson Dance’s 9th year performing this ballet at the Lobero Theatre. There will be two shows on Saturday, December 3rd; 2pm and 6pm. The Class Parts Chart shows which show(s) your child’s class is in, as well as the Dress Rehearsal date and on stage time.

NUTCRACKER is the family holiday favorite based on the classic story by E.T. A. Hoffman set to the unforgettable music of Tchaikovsky. Our performance is a collaborative work between State Street Ballet and Gustafson Dance with the Opera San Luis Obispo Orchestra. Gustafson Dance students in Primary –Level 6 will each have a part in this exciting professional production at the Granada Theatre. There are three performances- Saturday, December 17th at 2pm and 7:30pm and Sunday, December 18th at 2pm. Students will dance in one or more of the shows. The Class Parts Chart is posted in the studio and on our website.

TICKET SALES: Tickets are on sale now for both shows!
Parents who are planning to work backstage DURING any of the shows (This does not include jobs that are done before or after a show.) as a Group Monitor or other position that occurs during the show should not purchase a ticket to that show. Dancers in the show do not need a ticket to the show, with the exception of Act 1 Nutcracker dancers. For Rudolph performers, we are able to reserve a section of Dancer seats for dancers and monitors to sit in during the Act in which they are not dancing. Most Rudolph performers under age 5 prefer to sit on parents’ laps

We have come up with many different ways for parents to be involved, including an opt-out fee. We really appreciate all of our parent support in order to make the shows run smoothly and the dancers to be well supervised and prepared backstage.
